Honoring the Mission of Those Who Serve

The Robert Irvine Foundation recently spent a meaningful day with the Airmen at Goodfellow Air Force Base, home to the 17th Training Wing.

During the visit, Robert Irvine had the opportunity to tour the base and spend time connecting with the service members who train here as military firefighters. These Airmen undergo demanding training to prepare for missions that require skill, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.

Hearing firsthand about their mission and the dedication required to serve provided a powerful reminder of the strength and professionalism of the military community.

Breaking Bread With Heroes

The visit concluded with a Breaking Bread With Heroes meal, where the Foundation served more than 1,100 Airmen on base.

Programs like Breaking Bread With Heroes are designed to bring service members together through a shared meal, creating moments of connection and community that extend beyond the day’s mission. When service members gather around the table, they have the opportunity to relax, connect with one another, and strengthen the bonds that support them both during and after their service.

Food has a unique ability to bring people together - and in environments like military bases, those moments of connection can make a lasting impact.

Strengthening Community Through Partnership

Events like this are made possible through the support of dedicated partners and volunteers who share a commitment to supporting the military community.

The Robert Irvine Foundation is grateful to the Airmen and leadership at Goodfellow Air Force Base for welcoming us, and to partners like Optimum for helping make the day possible.

Because when we gather around the table, we’re doing more than sharing a meal -we’re strengthening the community that supports those who serve.
