Manager of Military and Veterans Initiatives, American Airlines

Randy serves as Manager of Military and Veterans Initiatives for American Airlines, where he leads engagement with military-serving nonprofit organizations and coordinates large-scale national and international initiatives. Organizations supported through his work include the Medal of Honor Foundation, Armed Services YMCA, USO, Elizabeth Dole Foundation, and the Robert Irvine Foundation.

He leverages the American Airlines fleet to support the military community through charter flights and historic missions such as Snowball Express, Soaring Valor, Salute to the Troops, and veteran travel to Washington, D.C. He is currently planning a mission to transport 85 World War II veterans to Honolulu for the 85th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

His responsibilities also include coordinating care package delivery to deployed service members, compassionate and emergency travel, military-related customer service, and veteran hiring initiatives. In 2023, he completed an 18-month project to design and launch Flagship Valor, a flying tribute honoring Medal of Honor recipients.

Randy has more than 31 years of combined full- and part-time military service and currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. An Army aviator and Public Affairs Officer, his deployments include Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as numerous global and domestic missions, including disaster response following Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Harvey, and Maria, and the recovery of Space Shuttle Columbia.

He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Minnesota and received his Army commission through ROTC. Randy resides in Keller, Texas, with his wife, Sharon. Their two daughters attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and High Point University.
