VP, Development & Impact
U.S. Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant (Ret.) Robert Yarnall is a lifelong servant leader with over 25 years of military service, 28 years of nonprofit leadership, and two decades in education. As Vice President of Development & Impact at the Robert Irvine Foundation, he plays a key role in advancing the Foundation’s mission to serve and support veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders through strategic fundraising, outreach, and measurable program impact.
Robert began his distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps, where he rose to the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant, one of the highest enlisted ranks in the Corps. He deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, participating in critical combat and humanitarian missions. Following his deployment, Robert served eight years on Marine Corps recruiting duty, helping shape the future of the force by identifying and mentoring new Marines.
After years of active duty, Robert transitioned to the Marine Corps Reserve to further his education. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, graduating Summa Cum Laude from East Stroudsburg University. He went on to teach Civics and the U.S. Government for 20 years, instilling in students a deeper understanding of citizenship, service, and the Constitution.
Robert has also been a dedicated force in the nonprofit world, with nearly three decades of board and committee leadership. He has chaired numerous community-based and veteran-focused initiatives, leveraging his experience and network to drive mission growth and deepen impact.
He and his wife, Kim, are proud parents of six children and a grandson—with two sons currently serving in the Marine Corps. Together, Robert and Kim have participated in the Marine Corps Marathon race series, completed century bike rides, and taken on numerous ruck and hike challenges, all in support of raising awareness and funds for wounded warriors and veteran programs.
Robert joined the Robert Irvine Foundation to help expand its national reach and deepen its support for the military and first responder communities. With a legacy of leadership and service behind him, he remains passionate about building stronger futures for those who have sacrificed so much.
