Ryan Ackerman

U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Robert Irvine Foundation Ambassador
Ryan Ackerman is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and dedicated advocate for the military community. His commitment to service was solidified on September 11, 2001, while he was in the first weeks of boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina. Before earning his Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, Ryan learned of the terrorist attacks on the United States—an experience that confirmed his resolve to serve and defend his country.
Ryan went on to serve as a Corporal and Infantry Small Unit Leader with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines (1/5) from 2002 to 2005. During his enlistment, he completed three consecutive combat deployments to Iraq, including the initial invasion in 2003, the First Battle of Fallujah in 2004, and security operations in Ramadi in 2005. His service was marked by leadership, resilience, and dedication, earning him multiple awards in recognition of his performance under fire.
Following his military service, Ryan transitioned into nonprofit leadership. He co-founded and now serves as President of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines Association, where his work centers on veteran suicide prevention and strengthening lifelong bonds among 1/5 families. Through connection, community, and shared purpose, Ryan helps provide pride, support, and life-saving resources to veterans and their families.
A strong believer in the “force multiplier” effect of collaboration, Ryan actively partners with veteran-focused nonprofit organizations to share resources and build sustainable support networks. As an Ambassador for the Robert Irvine Foundation, he helps amplify the Foundation’s mission and supports programs that strengthen and uplift military members, veterans, first responders, and their families.
