How You Showed Up in August

NOBODY HANDS YOU THIS SKILL
Feeding a family well on a tight budget and a tighter schedule is a skill. Nobody hands it out with the uniform, and nobody teaches it once you are in.
So this spring, your support let us try something new. We put our chefs in a kitchen with a military family for a day, and taught the thing nobody teaches. How to build a nutritious meal that is not complicated and not expensive. How flavor and health can live in the same pan. How to cook together.
We did not hand anyone a box of food. A box solves one week. A skill solves the next two hundred dinners.

Watching their kids move around that kitchen with confidence, one parent said: "I don't think it gets any better than that."
That moment in that kitchen exists because of you.
That was one day, in one kitchen, as a pilot. We already know where the need is, because we are in those cities every month. What we need now is the fuel to run it there.
If you believe, as we do, that a skill outlasts a box — a gift of $100 puts one military family through a full cooking day. Help us reach the next family.

Bonefish Grill Said Yes

This November, Bonefish Grill is running a national campaign for the Foundation, including a limited time menu item with Robert, a round up at the register, and a give back night.
Details on how to take part at your local Bonefish are coming this fall.
Every family that learns to feed itself well is one less family choosing between groceries and rent. Every veteran who sits down at one of our tables is one less veteran eating alone.
That is what you made real this summer — not because anyone asked twice, but because that is who you are.
Thank you for being the kind of person these families can count on.
With gratitude,
Anne-Marie Grey
Interim-CEO
