Lieutenant Colonel U.S. Army (Ret.)

Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Eric Lindsay is a decorated combat veteran, adaptive sports enthusiast, and tireless advocate for people with disabilities. His remarkable life of service spans over two decades of military leadership, followed by continued impact in civilian life through policy, volunteerism, and resilience.

Originally from Washington State, Eric earned his bachelor’s degree and commission through Washington State University before beginning a 21-year Army career that would take him around the world. His assignments included two tours in the Republic of Korea, and postings at Fort Hood (TX), Fort Monmouth (NJ), and Grafenwöhr, Germany, where he commanded an infantry battalion. Eric deployed to Iraq three times and Afghanistan once, distinguishing himself as a committed and capable leader.

In 2015, while serving in Korea, Eric sustained a C5 spinal cord injury in a freak bicycle accident that left him a quadriplegic. He was evacuated to San Antonio, Texas, where he and his wife, Choe Jeom Sook (“Sooky”), began the difficult process of rehabilitation together. He officially retired from the Army in 2016, transitioning into a life focused on adaptive recovery, civic leadership, and service to others.

Now residing in San Antonio with Sooky and his loyal service dog, Norman, Eric continues to live with purpose and passion. He and Sooky practice adaptive archery almost daily, with aspirations of competing on the U.S. National Team. Eric also volunteers with Paralyzed Veterans of America and the City of San Antonio, and currently serves on the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, where he helps shape policy to improve quality of life for the entire disabled community.
