Retired U.S. Army Major Michael Thomson is a highly decorated Special Forces Officer whose 22-year military career stands as a testament to courage, leadership, and selfless service. With extensive experience in combat operations and high-level strategic advisory roles, Major Thomson made enduring contributions to U.S. national security across some of the world’s most complex regions.

Throughout his distinguished career, Michael held a range of elite leadership positions, including Special Forces Company Commander, Detachment Team Leader, Battalion Operations Officer, Company Executive Officer, and Infantry Platoon Leader. He deployed multiple times in support of operations throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Among his many roles, Michael notably served four consecutive years in Afghanistan as the Senior Counterinsurgency Advisor to the U.S. Commanding General, where he shaped coalition-level strategy and brought his operational insight to the highest echelons of military decision-making.

Major Thomson’s valor and excellence are reflected in his impressive list of military awards and decorations, including the: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with “V” Device and Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service and Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service and Army Achievement Medals, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Austin Peay State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and an MBA from The George Washington University.

In August 2016, following his retirement from active duty, Michael’s life took a dramatic turn when he was shot six times in the upper torso during a violent incident. The resulting spinal cord injury left him paralyzed from the chest down. Yet true to his warrior spirit, Michael has remained committed to his recovery, continuing to train, rehabilitate, and inspire others by pushing beyond perceived limits.
