U.S. Army Veteran and Ambassador

Ronda Jones is a proud U.S. Army Veteran, accomplished para-athlete, and passionate advocate for disability rights and independence. Born in Virginia, Ronda served two terms on active duty during Operation Desert Storm, specializing as a Water Treatment Specialist and Lithographer. During her service, she sustained multiple injuries that ultimately led to the amputation of her right leg below the knee and a lifelong journey with chronic pain, PTSD, and mobility challenges.

Despite these obstacles, Ronda has channeled her resilience into a life of impact and inspiration. In 2022, she earned a gold medal in air rifle at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games—her first year participating in recreational therapy programs through the VA and PG County Parks and Recreation. These programs have not only helped Ronda physically, but have also empowered her emotionally by building community, boosting confidence, and rekindling her adventurous spirit.

A devoted wife, mother, and proud grandmother, Ronda is deeply involved in her family’s life and is determined to attend her grandson’s games and community events—despite her limitations.
Ronda continues to mentor others, share her story as a motivational speaker, and fight for equitable access for disabled veterans. She is a living example of courage, determination, and the power of persistence. Ronda became an Ambassador for the Robert Irvine Foundation in 2025.

Mobility Device Recipient

In 2023, Ronda was provided with a Mobius iBOT® Personal Mobility Device, made possible through the generosity of the Jaquish & Kenninger Foundation. The iBOT gives her the freedom she has long fought for: the ability to rise to eye level, ascend stairs, maneuver outdoor terrain, and reclaim the independence that injury tried to take from her.

Ronda is an active member of VA and community recreation therapy programs, where she participates in adaptive sailing, skeet shooting, and other outdoor pursuits that fuel her confidence and recovery. She recently won a gold medal in air rifle at the Veteran Wheelchair Games, and has her sights set on national—and even international—competition.

An iBOT has not only transformed her physical mobility, but also supports her emotional health, self-advocacy, and connection to the world around her. Ronda’s determination to stay engaged, visible, and empowered makes her an extraordinary ambassador for what veterans can achieve post-injury—with the right tools, support, and belief.

The Robert Irvine Foundation is proud to stand alongside Ronda in her next chapter of strength, movement, and meaningful connection.
