Hey Folks,
Welcome back to Life Ingredients , the place where we take care of the whole person—spirit, mind, and body. Every edition is a reminder that real health isn’t about chasing perfection, but about building habits that make you stronger and more capable of creating a life you love.
We start the way we always do—by moving. Now let’s get to work!
LIFE INGREDIENTS FITNESS Functional Full-Body Strength If you know me, you know I love my old-school bodybuilding splits. I prefer to spend a whole session focusing on a single body part and giving it the maximum level of attention and work. I’ve always loved that and I always will.
That said, I’ve learned that as I get older, my body needs more. It needs to move as a singular, complimentary unit, not as a pair of arms that are totally siloed off from a pair of legs, siloed off from my chest and back, and… you get the picture. Point is, there are benefits for people of all ages to train the whole body as one. Movement, balance, and cardiovascular endurance—all of these things are improved through total body workouts, not to mention the connective tissues and stabilizing muscle fibers that are tested in ways that isolation workouts could never do.
In short, this full-body strength workout is the perfect way to kick off 2026. My trainer Steve Wrona—who explains the workout in the accompanying video—recently put me through it and it was incredible. Check it out!

LIFE INGREDIENTS FOOD MASON JAR SALAD Food prep gets a bad rap for being boring. I think all those stock images of Tupperwares full of grilled chicken, rice, and broccoli circulating online may have done some damage! Suffice it to say it doesn’t need to be like that.
Take this Mason Jar Salad concept. It’s convenient, portable, and endlessly variable based on your own unique tastes. Just layer in your favorite veggies and healthy toppings as pictured, seal it up, take it with you, and when you’re ready to eat, hit it with some dressing, turn it over a few times in your hands, and you’ve got a delicious, energizing meal anytime, anywhere.
Here’s how I do mine:
View Complete Recipe But goals don’t care about perfect streaks or neat timelines. What matters is whether you’re willing to pause, recalibrate, and take the next step instead of deciding the whole thing is over because it got messy.
The people who get where they want to go aren’t the ones who never miss a beat. They’re the ones who don’t turn a missed beat into a reason to quit. One off week doesn’t erase what you’re capable of. It just asks you to decide if you’re still willing to show up.
Letting go of that perfectionist mindset is good for more than your progress, it’s good for your head. Chasing flawless days is exhausting. Giving yourself permission to be consistent instead of perfect takes pressure off, clears space mentally, and makes the work something you can actually live with long-term.
Now do this for me: Don’t wait for some “fresh start” moment to jump back in. You don’t need a Monday or a new month. You need to make a decision and one solid move today. Do that, then do it again tomorrow. That’s how real momentum is built: quietly, steadily, without a lot of drama.
Until next time, remember the words I live by:
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
