Functional Full-Body Strength
If you know me, you know I love my old-school bodybuilding splits. I prefer to spend a whole session focusing on a single body part and giving it the maximum level of attention and work. I’ve always loved that and I always will.
That said, I’ve learned that as I get older, my body needs more. It needs to move as a singular, complimentary unit, not as a pair of arms that are totally siloed off from a pair of legs, siloed off from my chest and back, and… you get the picture. Point is, there are benefits for people of all ages to train the whole body as one. Movement, balance, and cardiovascular endurance—all of these things are improved through total body workouts, not to mention the connective tissues and stabilizing muscle fibers that are tested in ways that isolation workouts could never do.
In short, this full-body strength workout is the perfect way to kick off 2026. My trainer Steve Wrona—who explains the workout in the accompanying video—recently put me through it and it was incredible. Check it out!
